Prof. Asandei is an alumni of the Gheorghe Asachi Polytechnic Institute of Iasi, having graduated top of his class with a BS\/MS in Polymer Chemical Engineering in 1992.\u00a0 He obtained his Ph.D. in 1998 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland OH (USA), while working on liquid crystalline polymers, and continued with post-doctoral research on controlled radical polymerizations (CRPs) at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA (1999-2001), where he developed the CRP of vinyl chloride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2001 Prof. Asandei has been faculty in the Polymer Program and Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut in Storrs (USA), where he teaches organic and polymer chemistry. His research centers on fundamental aspects of polymer synthesis and includes the development of novel polymerization methodologies and catalysts for living ring opening, radical and coordination polymerizations towards the synthesis of complex polymer architectures, with a special recent interest in fluorine, organometallic chemistry, as well as photochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Asandei\u2019s research was supported through the years by many National Science Foundation and Petroleum Research Fund grants, as well as industrial contracts. His research output includes over 100 peer reviewed articles and patents, over 300 invited talks, presentations, posters etc., and his work was cited more than 7,000 times, with an h-index of 42.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
